Alle dyr er BÆ

By Ruth Lillegraven, Victoria Sandøy

A charming and poetic picture book about siblings, sheep and seasonal changes from award-winning poet

Big brother is desperate to play and chat with his little sister, but she neither talks nor joins in his games. One winter’s day in the sheep barn, she suddenly says her very first word: “BAA”. Big brother is convinced more words will follow, but soon realises that, for her, everything is “BAA”. How can he possibly get her to speak?

Everyone says BAA-BAA is a warm and charming picture book that follows life on a farm over the course of a year, while exploring the tender relationship between a big brother and his little sister as she discovers language. Through playful scenes and sensory experiences, the book gently shows how children enter a shared world of words and meaning.

This is the first collaboration between author Ruth Lillegraven and illustrator Victoria Sandøy, both award-winning and critically acclaimed voices in contemporary Norwegian children’s literature.

Ruth Lillegraven is an award-winning poet and writer and has written books for both adults and children. Environment, climate changes and the seasonal shifts are recurring themes in her writing.
