Sigmund Løvåsen

Sigmund Løvåsen (born 1977) is from Trysil. He studied writing in Bø and literary composition in Gothenburg, Sweden. As well as being an author, he is the head of the Author’s School for writers with a minority background and is head of the Norwegian Arts Council. Løvåsen made his debut in 2003 with the novel The New Clearing (Nyryddinga), for which he was received both the Tarjei Vesaas First Book Award and the P2 Listeners’ Novel Award. He has since written novels, plays, children’s books, biographies and poetry collections. His most recent work was the children’s book The Snowball War (Snøballkrigen).
